History

Looking back to the future: for more than 70 years, Harmstorf-flagged merchant ships have been plying their trade in international shipping. More than 60 ships, tankers, general purpose freighters, reefers and container ships served during this time.

After all the ships of the previous era had been sold by the middle of the nineties, it was time for a new start. In 2000 Thomas Meier-Hedde and Thomas Harmstorf founded today's shipping company. In just 10 years, the young shipping company managed to have a total of 18 vessels operating, through purchases from other shipping companies and of new-build contracts. Today, the company's fleet consists of 4 container ships.

After the retirement of Thomas Harmstorf in August 2010, the company began trading under the name Reederei Harmstorf & Co. Thomas Meier-Hedde GmbH & Co. KG.

Since October 2012 the company is a subsidiary of Schl├╝ssel Reederei KG (GmbH & Co.), Bremen.
